Mulch is your tree’s lifeline.
Mulch is great for trees because (credit Arbor Day Foundation)
- Keeps the soil insulated against temperature extremes
- Keeps the roots moist so they don’t dry out causing damage or death
- Stops you from running the mower over the root and causing damage to both parties
Where and how much Mulch?
- First remove the grass within 3-10 foot diameter of the tree base
- Pour natural mulch such as Atlanta Tree Professionals Free Wood Chips about 2-4 inches deep
- Try to avoid the mulch touching the actual trunk
And of course water baby! Your tree’s other friend!
